Readership

A reader barrister, commonly known as a reader, is a newly admitted barrister who is undertaking a mandatory period of supervised training and professional development called readership or the reading year.

During readership, a reader works under the close supervision and mentorship of one or more experienced barristers, often referred to as tutors. The aim is to provide practical, hands-on training in advocacy, case preparation, and professional conduct within the legal profession.

8 Garfield Barwick Chambers encourages prospective readers to enquire and / or apply by emailing reception@8garfieldbarwick.com.au.
